Ohio Sky: The Big Distraction review
When it comes to space rock, it\’s hard to anticipate what you\’re gonna get. With Ohio Sky and their latest release- The Big Distraction, it\’s an interesting experience.
For many as of late, space rock may remind them of bands like Starset, who have hit it big with their singles “My Demons” and “Carnivores.” But space rock goes much deeper than that and spans a wide variety of sounds. Ohio Sky seems to capture many of those essences in one very complex album.
They\’ve been winning a few awards lately for The Big Distraction and rightly so- it\’s a complete musical experience- one that takes a few listens to get the full experience. Musically, there\’s a lot going on here.
You have shades of Deftones, Coheed & Cambria and even Mars Volta on this album- intrigued? You should be. Vocally, there\’s a complexity that you just cant\’ find many other places and lyrically the band is on a completely different level.
It\’s no surprise Ohio Sky has been named by many as one of the bands to watch in 2015. With The Big Distraction, the riffs, melodies and vocals make for an atmosphere that\’s hypnotic, relaxing and will catch you, reel you in and keep you captive for hours.
