Five Finger Death Punch: Got Your Six review

2015 has been the year of highly-anticipated albums. We’ve seen new music from Butcher Babies, Red, Ghost, Disturbed, Bullet For My Valentine, Papa Roach, Halestorm, Lamb Of God and numerous others. One of the biggest releases this year is that of Five Finger Death Punch’s Got Your Six and it’s out today. It wasn’t long ago that the band announced they’d be releasing a new album just two years after their double album- The Wrong Side Of Heaven & The Righteous Side Of Hell. The creative juices just kept spinning, apparently, and the outcome was Got Your Six– a record full of the 5FDP aggression and anger we’ve all become familiar with. Releasing just before the band hits the road with Papa Roach, In This Moment and From Ashes To New, this couldn’t come at a more perfect time- there’s just something special about an album releasing around tour time. With Got Your Six, we see the more aggressive side of Five Finger Death Punch. They stayed away from ballads and covers and went balls to the wall with nothing but pure vengeance and a the outcome was a nonstop 40 minute assault. This is one of the more polished and concise albums Five Finger Death Punch has put out in awhile too. The heavy songs are heavier than the last two albums, the melodic songs are more melodic, the arena anthems are more dominant and dynamic and Ivan Moody is angrier than ever. This album is what makes Five Finger Death Punch as good as they are and as powerful as they’ve become. Six albums in, you’d expect a dud of an album somewhere in between but they continue to write and release stellar albums and songs that find their way into your cerebellum and wreak havoc on your brain. Get ready, world, Five Finger Death Punch is back with a new album and they’re hitting the road. They’re coming for you and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it. Rating: 9/10 -Reggie Edwards
