Violent Pop. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it? Damn right, and that’s what Finnish metallers Blind Channel have been described as over the years. They’ve also been described as the Backstreet Boys of the metal scene- they’re much heavier than that, though.
Their latest record- Exit Emotions is set to hit the masses and it’s a record that should put them up in the ranks with bands like From Ashes to New, Hollywood Undead and more.
With “Deadzone” tearing it up at rock radio, the band is riding a high right now and they should be with a record this strong. Songs like “Where’s the Exit,” “Phobia” and “Happy Doomsday,” are both aggressive and melodically catchy, taking you on a journey in themselves.
Then you’ve got “XOXO (which features Matt Brandyberry of From Ashes to New,” “Not Your Bro,” “Wolves in California” “and “Keeping it Surreal” that balance the clean vocals with rapping vocals, which are some of the most standout tracks of the entire record.
The one song that really stands apart is “Die Another Day,” which features Rory and Apocalyptica and is one of the most gorgeous and heart-wrenching tracks- both lyrically and musically.
In the end, the musical style is polarizing with fans- it gets a lot of shit from purist rock and metal fans but the supporting fanbase for it is overwhelming. When done, this style is undeniable and that’s what Exit Emotions is- undeniable.
Blind Channel have catapulted themselves to the upper levels and they’ve put together a record that will make you fall in love with it more with every listen.
