Review: Nekrogoblikon- The Fundamental Slimes and Humours

Nekrogoblikon is one of those bands that are hard to describe to someone who doesn’t know who they are- there’s so many elements that go into a song that you just have to have someone sit down and give it a listen. They’re in luck! The band just dropped their latest record, The Fundamental Slimes and Humours, which is a fun way to encapsulate this record.

This is a fun one from start to finish- and when we say fun, we mean fun. It’s definitely avant-garde and all over the place musically, but that adds to the energy.

One song could be straight metal and then two seconds later, the band rips into a synth-laced masterpiece. Other times you’ll hear an EDM metal mashup turn into a blitz of keyboards, unclean vocals that hits you harder than Ndamakong Suh on a Sunday before going back to where it was.

This record is one that keeps you on your feet, makes you go back and listen again to make sure you didn’t miss anything and forces you to be glad you didn’t drop acid before you turned it on. If you did, you’re in for one hell of a trip.

The clean vocals are hypnotizing and the unclean vocals are terrifying, the guitars and bass are vicious as ever, the keyboards are transic and everything blends together beautifully for a cinematic journey that you won’t be able to turn off.

There’s something for everyone on this album and it’ll knock you on your ass harder than Jeremiah Trotter and Chuck Bednarik if you aren’t ready for it.
