Review: Descendsion- In Plain Sight

Weirton West Virginia melodic rockers Descendsion have just released a video for their new single “In Plain Sight,” so let’s break it down.

First there is the song itself. It begins with a Creed flavored acoustic guitar that is unassuming yet captivating, beautifully entwined with an emotional outpouring of heart wrenching lyrics that deal with sensitive subject matter.

Then the chorus hits and the band get to show their musical chops. It is instantly infectious and one you’ll find yourself still singing long after the song is over. Pair that with a beautiful solo that is not overplayed and a powerhouse breakdown and you’ve got yourself the recipe for a sure fired hit.

Second is the video. As we mentioned before the song deals with sensitive subject matter, one subject is suicide which the video takes head on in the chilling intro and outro. In between is a stunning gimmick free performance clip set in an old abandoned warehouse with the band’s biggest fans in attendance.

The other subject, which is depicted in the scenes in between is believing in yourself when everyone around you is putting you down and saying you can’t do something. The video includes a suicide hotline and has a sister documentary that digs deeper into both subjects and more that is entertaining and compelling.

Major labels take note, because this is how it’s done!
