Marty Friedman reveals “Inferno” cover art, appears on “That Metal Show”

Renowned guitarist MARTY FRIEDMAN will appear on VH1 Classic’s “That Metal Show” — a hard rock/metal talk show hosted by Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine — airing this Saturday, March 1 at 11 p.m. EST. Other guests include Mick Jones (Foreigner), Leslie West (Mountain) and Lita Ford (The Runaways).

FRIEDMAN, who joined in on the taping from Japan via Skype, gave insight on the discussion: “Of course I talked about my upcoming album, ‘Inferno,’ but there was another guitarist on the show, and I just had to ask him what I wanted to know ever since I was a kid — just what the hell was he thinking when he laid down one of the most unorthodox (and cool) solos ever. Hope they don`t edit that part out!” Tune in tomorrow night to find out!

“Inferno” — scheduled for release on May 27 in North America via Prosthetic Records (May 26 in UK/EU, May 23 in G/A/S & May 21 via Universal in Japan) — has been declared byFRIEDMAN as “the most intense writing and playing I can do” and marks his first solo album of original material in four years and his first recording in more than a decade that will be released simultaneously worldwide. Recorded in Los Angeles with engineer Chris Rakestraw (Danzig, Children of Bodom) and mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth), “Inferno” will also include several notable guest appearance by musicians that have been influenced byFRIEDMAN‘s work including Rodrigo y Gabriela, Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom), Keshav Dhar (Skyharbor) and David Davidson (Revocation). Additional appearances will include collaborations with Shining (NO) mastermind Jørgen Munkeby, rock guru Danko Jones and a songwriting collaboration with Jason Becker, which will mark the first time the pair have written a song together since Cacophony!
