Live: Audiotree Music Festival 2016
Audiotree brought their much anticipated 4th annual Audiotree Music Festival to downtown Kalamazoo’s Arcadia Creek Festival Place on August 20th. To outsiders, Kalamazoo may seem like an odd destination for a music festival but for those in the know, festival organizers Audiotree is not only based, a quick two hour drive away, in Chicago but founders Michael Johnston and Adam Thurston were born and raised in the K-Zoo area.
Anyone who has spent a summer in the great lakes region knows that it doesn’t rain until you have something planned. As fate would have it, AMF found itself in the cross-hairs of a hellacious storm system and in the typical Midwestern bend but don’t break fashion the festival was slowed down but not stopped. The amended main stage line-up consisted of Big Gigantic, Ra Ra Riot, Robert Delong, Judah and the Lion & Rayland Baxter.
Kudos to Michael Johnston and Adam Thurston for showing so much love to their old stomping grounds of Kalamazoo. Cementing that, success doesn’t mean you have to forget your roots.
