Jamie Grace: Ready to Fly review

Christian music is seeing a huge surge of new artists lately, who not only have a huge heart and passion for Christ, but who also have the talent to take that heart and passion to the largest stages in music. One of those artists, Jamie Grace, is at a pivotal point in her career leading into her sophomore record, Ready to Fly. With a debut record, One Song at a Time, which reached number 4 on the Christian charts and helped her win the 2012 Dove Award for Best New Artist, the pressure was on for Grace to deliver on her sophomore record, Ready to Fly. Grace is known for her combination of country, pop, R&B, and rock and Ready to Fly is no exception. With Grace, we can always expect some of the most inspirational music and lyrics in the business and with her battles with Tourettes Syndrome to get to where she is today, this should come as no surprise. With Ready to Fly, Grace takes it to the next level and surpasses everything she did on her stellar debut. It looks like the major tours and artists she’s toured with as well as the bonds she’s made with artists like Tobymac have helped her mature as an artist and it shows here. Grace is growing into the singer-songwriter she’s meant to be and the personal material on Ready to Fly is a true testament to that. What a way to kick off 2014. Rating: 9/10 -Reggie Edwards
