The Destruction of The Shield DVD review

WWE has seen it\’s fair share of dominant teams and stables over the years. DX, NWO, The Ministry, Evolution, The Corporation, The Nation of Domination, The Wyatt Family, The Road Warriors, the list goes on and on. None, however, were as dominant as The Shield.

The Shield- made up of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose- debuted at Survivor Series 2012 and immediately began dismantling every Superstar and Legend in their path. It wasn\’t long until they began the most revered and feared team in the WWE and, although many teamed up to try, no one could seem to take down The Shield.

2013 and 2014 saw The Shield feud with some of the best teams in WWE- everyone from The Wyatt Family to Evolution tried to take them down and none seemed to succeed. Just when they were at their height, however, cracks began to form and it wasn\’t long until Seth Rollins turned on his Shield brothers, setting up some of the best matches of 2014.

To commemorate the legendary run The Shield had, WWE has released a DVD collection in The Destruction Of The Shield, which shows the path of each Superstar from the beginning to the present and is one of the most comprehensive looks and collections of The Shield you\’re gonna find.

It starts out with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins\’ FCW days, where they both wrestled each other from time to time. It also shows Dean Ambrose\’s legendary match with William Regal, which was the last FCW match on television.

After FCW, we get a glimpse of all three members\’ days in NXT, where they individually solidified themselves as three of the most promising young wrestlers in WWE and where they dominated virtually everyone in their individual paths.

We get treated to a few of their best NXT matches, which includes Seth Rollins\’ victory over Jinder Mahal for the first-ever NXT Heavyweight title.

Within WWE, we see matches that include Rollins and Reigns winning the Tag Team titles from Team Hell No, Ambrose defeating Kofi Kingston for the U.S. Title, The Shieild against Evolution at Payback, against The Wyatt Family at Elimination Chamber and their first-ever WWE match where they faced Ryback and Team Hell No in a TLC match at the PPV of the same name.

It wasn\’t all roses for The Shield, though. The night after Payback Evolution recruited Rollins to join The Authority and he turned on Ambrose and Reigns on Raw that night in a move that stunned virtually everyone watching.

From the days following The Shield\’s breakup, we see Rollins and Ambrose\’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match where Rollins won the MITB briefcase. We also see the Lumberjack Match between Rollins and Ambrose as well as the match between Reigns and Randy Orton- both matches from Summerslam that year.

Not only do we get the matches and documentary, but before each match is a featured commentary where Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose discuss the upcoming match and featured in the documentary on disc 1 are various interviews with current WWE Superstars who discuss the domination and legacy of The Shield.

Whether you loved them or hated them, The Destruction Of The Shield is a beautifully-put-together DVD set that perfectly chronicles the careers of each member and shows first-hand why The Shield is considered the most dominant faction the WWE has ever seen.

Believe that.
