Avril Lavigne announces first tour in over seven years, 30 dates with Backstreet Boys

Global pop/rock-superstar Avril Lavigne is going on the road this summer with headlining dates in South America followed by her joining the Backstreet Boys tour this May with 23 dates in the U.S., announced today.  Lavigne is just finishing up her 7-week, sold-out headlining arena tour in Asia and will begin her American run with a host of headlining dates in South America and Mexico beginning April 29 in San Paulo, Brazil.  Complete list of dates below.  For more information on tickets and VIP packages, fans can visit www.avrillavigne.com. Lavigne is criss-crossing the globe in support of her critically acclaimed eponymously titled, fifth studio album, released in November via Epic, which landed on top at #1 in more than a dozen countries. Avril Lavigne features the top 20 hit single “Here’s To Never Growing Up,” debuting at #1 in 22 countries and was a top 10 single in 44 countries, and the smash hit duet with husband Chad Kroeger, “Let Me Go.” It has been 7 years since her last global run, The Best Damned Tour, and Lavigne is “excited to stay on the road and cannot wait to see all my fans across the Americas! I had such a great time with the Backstreet Boys during last fall’s radio shows, it seemed like a natural fit for me to join them on the road in the US!” Avril Lavigne has made an indelible mark on the music community, selling more than 35 million albums worldwide, more than 50 million singles, 8 Grammy nominations and the winner of 8 Canadian Juno Awards. She burst onto the music scene in 2002 with the critically acclaimed Let Go featuring the smash singles “Sk8r Boi” and “Complicated.” Her 2004 release, Under My Skin, debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, as did her third album, The Best Damn Thing, which produced the irrepressible #1 single “Girlfriend” logging more than 202 million views on YouTube!  Lavigne also wrote the song “Alice” for Tim Burton’s critically acclaimed Disney Film “Alice in Wonderland.” Lavigne’s fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby, featured the smash-hit singles “What The Hell,” and “Smile,” released in 2011 to critical acclaim.  Outside the recording studio, Lavigne is continuously adding pieces to her lifestyle apparel brand, Abbey Dawn; has released three fragrances, Forbidden Rose, Black Star, and Wild Rose.  In early 2010, Lavigne created The Avril Lavigne Foundation. To date, the Avril Lavigne Foundation has raised more than half a million dollars to provide support to children and youth living with serious illnesses or disabilities through awareness-raising initiatives and grants.
