Abbath, Skeletonwitch, High On Fire, Tribulation confirmed for Decibel Tour

Over the last four years, Decibel Magazine has redefined what a metal tour can accomplish. Creative and ambitious curation has unified artists from far reaches of the extreme universe who would never have the opportunity to tour North America together. The 2016 Decibel Magazine Tour continues that proud tradition, and we’re excited to reveal Ohio thrash powerhouse SKELETONWITCH – the group’s first tour with their new vocalist, whose identity will be revealed in the coming months – will make their eagerly anticipated return to the road this spring alongside Norwegian black metal legend Abbath, Bay Area metallic institution High on Fire and Swedish progressive black/death prodigies Tribulation (with regional openers in select markets to be announced soon). Presented by Randall Amplifiers, ESP Guitars, IndieMerchStore.com, Season of Mist, eOne, Century Media and Prosthetic, the 2016 Decibel Magazine Tour will treat North American audiences to 23 grim and frostbitten dates, boasting a rich array of metal’s most riotous voices.

SKELETONWITCH guitarist Scott Hedrick took a break from demoing new material to provide the following update: “Cheers everyone! We are proud to announce that we will be a part of the mighty Decibel Tour. They had us at Abbath, then tripled the ante with High on Fire and Tribulation! All three artists are in my personal top tier of heavy music. Definitely going to have some embarrassing ‘fan moments’ on this one. Just ask Matt Pike – as an overly excited teenager, I punished him with a game of 20 Questions when I saw them on their first U.S. tour. He still regrets giving me his phone number! New tunes, new singer, new tour, new chapter for SKELETONWITCH. Looking forward to seeing you all out on the road.”

Formed in Ohio over a decade ago, SKELETONWITCH has received considerable acclaim for its trademark “blackened metal,” which Metal Hammer calls “a potent brew of everything that makes metal so brilliant, vital and special.” The group’s relentless work ethic — personified by a 63-concerts-in-65-days test of endurance in 2012 – is second to none in the genre and has cemented their reputation as one of metal’s most important acts. Previous tours with the likes of Danzig, Arch Enemy, the Black Dahlia Murder, Amon Amarth, Enslaved, Children of Bodom, Cannibal Corpse and Ozzy Osbourne’s Ozzfest have helped to cultivate one of the genre’s most passionate fan bases. Their most recent release, “Serpents Unleashed,” debuted on the Billboard 200 at #62, the highest chart position of their career. Recorded with Kurt Ballou (Converge, High on Fire), “Serpents Unleashed” was lauded as a “punchy, potent slices of blackened thrash, death metal and plain ol’ heavy metal” by Decibel Magazine, which included the album in their 2013 Top 40 list.

While there’s plenty of time to stir up your corpsepaint for the 2016 Decibel Magazine Tour, here’s your chance to score a great deal and avoid standing in line.
